CM Campbell was born in Evanston, Illinois. He has lived in several cities, including Atlanta and Los Angeles, but currently calls Brooklyn, N.Y. home. He left the Chicagoland area for Camp Pendleton, California in 2004 where he joined the Marines and served multiple deployments under Operation Iraqi Freedom.  CM was honorably discharged in 2008 and chose to further his education in California. He received his BA from San Francisco State University in a studio art practice in 2015, and minored in Sexuality Studies. With a passion for illustration and the burgeoning media, he received his MFA in comics from California College of The Arts in 2015. He uses feminist theory and pop culture analysis to examine identity in conflict with societal expectations.
